Prayer Book Cover, 19th Century (by gerson lessa)

This cover, made in France around the 1880s in great Victorian style, is made of Bois Durci, a composite plastic made from ox blood and woodflour. Blood plasma is composed of Albumem, and wood floor is composed mainly of Cellulose, both natural polymers. Molded under heat and pressure, this mix turns into hard and very beautiful detailed moldings.
